I believe that everybody possesses a weapon or an object of self-defense, whether it’s used for protection, or maybe just to intimidate others or for any other reason. Commonly, these weapons are physical, meaning they are seen by the naked eye, and others are non-physical like words, they can be used as a weapon too, depending on the time and place.
Let’s take a stroll down memory lane, back in the second world war, a certain powerful country produced and tested the first nuclear bomb, this revolutionary yet deadly discovery made them feel powerful, a few decades back guns were invented, which later on became modified into small handguns, pistols, rifles of which people possessing these weapons felt safe, protected but most of all they felt ,powerful just because of possessing these deadly weapons.
But let’s take a pause from history and destruction, and let’s think! These weapons were made by the hands, and with the help of advanced technology, but what was the base? What was the source of such powerful inventions? It’s obvious, THE MIND!
The mind is a powerful weapon, in a matter of fact, the mind is the most powerful weapon on earth, and I will tell you why?
Take a look at all the revolutionary discoveries and innovations, the greatest of all time, they all have one common source, a GREAT MIND! What made these minds so great, so different from the rest of the other common minds in the world?! The difference is that these “great minds” could see what the eyes couldn’t, these minds could generate ideas, theories out of obstacles and questions, that other normal minds couldn’t tackle, these minds had dreams, but most importantly all the great minds had IMAGINATION. Over the years science fiction has bestowed upon us films whose stories are based on fictional theories, and things that seem impossible to the human mind, but I have always argued that it really isn’t impossible, rather it ‘seems’ impossible because we have trapped our minds in these possibility cages and self-imposed limits, and we won’t let them out because we think we are too sane to have even a little imagination, plus we don’t want to have a hard time thinking more than we usually do!
Albert Einstein once said that to be a great scientist or inventor, one has to have Imagination. What he meant was, if your Mind can’t imagine, it can’t generate ideas, automatically it can’t CREATE. Our minds were meant to be used for a greater purpose than just score good grades in class, they were made for more than just memorizing first lineups of major soccer teams, or long lists for groceries. Our minds were meant to be used for thinking outside the cages of possibility, our minds were meant to see the physically unseen, and create something out of it, that is how our minds can become WEAPONS.
Look, Benjamin franklin saw electricity out of lightning, while the rest of the world saw a blazing white light that made scary noises during storms. He saw what others couldn’t see, not with his eyes, but with his mind! (The mind can see). Let’s look at another great mind, Thomas Edison! when other folks in the year 1879 were busy wasting liters of oil on disposable lamps, which still produced soot, dangerous to the human lungs, he imagined a “soot-free” light source, one that wasn’t going to waste all those precious liters of oil, and after a few months of thinking and applying those ideas in handwork, he managed to invent the first light bulb!
If that still doesn’t prove my point, let’s take a look at the wright brothers, or as famously known; “the first humans to fly, successfully”. Ok, I agree with what you are thinking, they weren’t the first people to think about flight, they weren’t the first to attempt flight either. But they are the ones who trusted their minds long enough to get the desired results. Let me tell you this, when they first started, everybody thought they were insane, they thought that it would end up failing like the rest of the inventors who preceded them, everybody thought averagely on it, so obviously everybody else couldn’t imagine what the wright brothers imagined.
We could talk about many great thinkers and inventors, Leonardo da Vinci, sir. Isaac newton, Galileo galilee, the list goes on and on. All of these people are proof of the fact that the mind is the greatest weapon far greater than any other on earth. Ok, let’s talk a bit about weapons, literally! Like the nuclear bomb, made and tested for the first time back in the second world war, this is probably one of the greatest tools of destruction that has ever been made on earth, as big as it sounds this massive weapon has its source from a brilliant mind, a genius named albert Einstein generated the theory of relativity, a big theory that related all the physics phenomenon, and placed it in one equation, E=MC^2. Out of his ideas, the deadliest weapon on earth was made! The world now fears the weapon, but I tell you, what is to fear is the mind that generated this weapon before it even came into life! Think of the devastating destruction and damage that was made by the bomb in the Japanese islands of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, a ten feet bomb, destroying an entire island, and leaving radioactive damage whose effect lasts to this day. Somebody used his mind beyond the limits of possibility, added a bit of imagination and vóila, the world was at its knees.
That’s the big picture here! Yes, the 9mm caliber pistol can put a hole in someone’s head and leave them lifeless, bombs can make deadly damage, and nanotechnology can make impossible science possible, but look at what the mind can do! It could reshape the universe, it can create and destroy! It can discover and innovate! Yes, I rest my case, the mind is the most powerful weapon man could ever possess. But very few of us are aware of this. Research shows that we are only capable of using up to 10% of our cerebral capacity. History tells us of very few people who managed to use more than 10% of their brain capacity, the likes of albert Einstein, Isaac newton, Leonardo da Vinci, and a few others. What makes them so different? Can’t we reach the same level?
Imagine how much more we could discover and invent and generate if we could think beyond limits, beyond the cages of possibility, if we could use imagination to create. Right now I’m imagining flying cars, teleportation machines, light-speed spaceships, and a bunch of other breakthroughs technologically, economically and so much more, I mean we could literally change the earth, the entire universe even!
But it all begins with removing all these self-imposed mental limits, if we choose to think a bit more than we usually do!
